Hello everyone,
I've run into a bit of a problem with some valve trains I'm drawing. I was given a list of components and pipe sizes with limited overall dimensions and made each valve train line as one long straight pipe with appropriate valves, fittings etc. Now I need to make them all fit into a length of less than 90in and, since they're all in the range of 200in-300in, they will have to turn back on themselves a couple times. Is there a way to edit the route sketches to separate different segments of the route, move them around, and reconnect them with elbows? So far, it seem like more trouble than it's worth to edit the sketch, so I'm looking at just deleting part of the route and redrawing it. Other ideas are very welcome!
Thanks!
Justin,
If it's only one or two valve train my gut feeling would be to redo it. Reason being that it will take you a while to find a way to alter it that works without taking longer then just redoing it.
Afterall it would mean putting in breaks in the 3dsketch route, removing certain relations between items before and after the break, moving stuff, rotating stuff, putting in new relations without overdefining or creating conflicts, solving conflicts then happened anyways, and then doing it once or twice more to get your 200/300 inch valve train in an 90 inch wide area.
Unless it's permitable that you have it in more then one single route. Because then you could do a couple of copies of the original, wipe out those parts on each copy that you don't need (copy one = piece one, copy two = piece 2, copy 3 = piece 3) and then add some elbows and such, and put it all together as a collection of pipe assemblies. I hope that made any sense.
