Hi
I have an assembly with a number of reference planes and axes specified. I was hoping to reuse this reference geometry in a new assembly. Can you tell me if it is possible to copy/paste or to import reference geometry from one assembly to another?
(The reference geometry is not related to any of the parts in the assembly, only to the front/top/right planes e.g. I have an axis that is the intersection of the front and top plane)

Welcome to the forum. And I think I may have a better method than Peter posted. If this is something you will be needing often you can open a new assembly, insert your reference geometry, and then save as a new assembly template. That way you can use this template when starting a new assembly and your reference geometry will always be there without needing to insert this assembly into a new one. I have my assembly template set up with three axes, one at each intersection of two of the main planes. They're named something like "Up and Down", "Front to Back", and "Right to Left" so I know which is which. I use these axes for the direction for linear patterns. It works very well. When needed, I can choose one of them from the tree without needing to make them visible. I set it up this way because I got tired of using a part edge to pattern along and then having the linear pattern blow up because the part got edited and the edge reference was lost.

I would just make a copy of the assembly that you have, in windows explorer.
Delete what isn't reference geometry. Save it as dedicated reference geometry assembly so as to be able to insert it as a sub-ASM in any new assembly.
If there's an easier an/or better way I would love to hear it.
