It looks like when you delete the folder there is a datacard associted with that folder that is getting deleted as well. In that data card there is a list that is controlled by a variable like so:
You can probably go in and try to delete these references first then you should be able to destroy the folders. You should pass this information on to your VAR to put in a service request to get this issue resolved.
Thnaks Charley. Tried this, but stll unable to delete the folders. I will have to log a case with our VAR.
That's really odd, I get that exact same error when I setup a controlled list and attempt to delete the folder that contains the card.

Can you try running this query and make sure that none of the paths returned are in the folder you're trying to delete or in any subfolders below it:
