Hello there,
A quick queries but i am having issues with appearances.
With assemblies I can apply materials/appearance to parts and bodies etc... Now and then the whole thing will go grey. The appearances are still there in the tree and there isn't another default material over the top.
Sometimes it will come back if I close the whole assembly and sun assemblies that are related to it and restart. But most of the time it involves shutting down soliworks and rebooting it....
Has anybody else come across this at all?
Nick,
I've been experienceing the same problem. For me it seems to happen most often when I try to hide parts in the assembly during an animation. Most of the time they will not hide completely (just change to transparent), and when they are un-hidden they will re-appear with a white-ish - grey appearance. In these cases I've had some luck with a couple different solutions:
Sometimes I can get the appearences to return to normal by expanding the display pane next to the feature manager design tree, right clicking in the appearances column next to the part, and clicking the option to 'clear override' or 'clear all top level overrides'
Other times that will have no effect. In these cases, I've had some luck opening the sub-assemblies and either doing the same thing there or just rebuilding them and saving them. Then when I return to the main assembly the appearances are correct.
It kinda seems hit and miss, and I'm still not sure what is causing the problem. I really don't know much about display states, so it could have something to do with that. Does this sound like the problem that you are having? If you figure out what is causing the problem I'd like to know so that I can avoid it. It sure is a pain. Good Luck!
