Hi, I have a light tower (20m) and I want to simulate winds, how do I do it in solidworks?
Hi Julio: If you know a sample wind speed, you could do a 'worst-case' uniform pressure on the tower faces exposed to the wind using the "pressure" dialog. The downwind faces could have a negative pressure. The dynamic pressure would be 1/2*rho*V^2, and the total force on the structure would be quite large - akin to a 'worst-case' scenario. Something like that should get you going.
thanks anthony, but I was tinking about gusty winds, is there any way to simulate it in solidworks?
Yes you can put on loads as a function of time. You can use the linear dynamics module if you have it (it takes inertia into account). Hope that helps.
You can also do a transient flow simulation to take a look at the loads though you would have to know what to apply as a BC to simulate a gust.
