TolAnalyst vs stack up by hand

Hello,

I'm fairely new to computer modeling and I've been experimenting with DimXpert and Tolanalyst. I'm confindent i'm using these features correctly but when I compare my tolanalyst max and min to doing it by hand, i'm getting a difference of around .100. I've tried different contraints but all are yielding similiar results. I'm using Geometric for DimXpert. Is this something to be expected or am I doing something wrong? My manual calculations have been checked by Professor and T.A. and they both agree it is correct.

Correct Answer

Chee, tolanalyst calculates 3-dimensional tolerances which includes heights of cylindrical features for mating parts. Make sure you've applied projected tolerance zones or perpendicularity controls to your true position tolerances if you have tall bosses

Thanks for replying and sorry for the poor post. I'll try to start over. I want to know if the difference i'm getting from Tolanalyst vs doing it by hand is exceptable. If not then i'm doing something wrong and will try to figure out what it is i'm doing wrong. I have two parts. The first is a plate with two holes. The holes have different dimensions and tolerances. The second is a plate with two pins that will assemble into the first peice. I want to know the maximum distance between two specific features on this assembly. Doing the stack up analysis by hand, i'm getting 16.325mm where as tolanalyst gives me 16.465mm. My stack up analysis by hand has been varified to be correct.

In order for someone to help you, you will have to post some details. Post some drawings, sketches, SolidWorks parts/drawings, hand calcs, something.
