can u tell me how to create the threadeing in solidworks,i am trying to do that but not able to create the thread,can any one tell me the steps to create it..
Most people dont create actual threads, but if you have to you need to create a circle sketch perpendicular to the rod or hole the threads are to be on, using this sketch you will insert a helix and define its properties base on your thread. Then create another sketch perpendicular to the first one and draw the thread profile. Using the two sketches you just created do a swept cutusing the profile and the helix as the path. You will need to place the profile sketch somewhere on the helix usually with a pierce mate.
can't we create a thread to a length more than 10mm.bcoz when i am trying to create a thread on the screw rod of length 170mm..the system is not taking tat value i am find the error saying that we can't create the thread more than 10mm, can you help me how to over come this
