What ever happened to this application?
I can find all kinds of info on this when we all saw it in World 2 years ago, but I have not seen anything since then... anyone care to comment on whether we will ever see this application?
The Lean Construction offer is a repackaging of existing Enovia applications. Our AEC products are currently in private beta with selected customers, and will be publicly available at some point in the future. This is a new market for DS and SolidWorks, and we want to make sure we get the products right before taking them to market.
I believe most people think it has now been turned into this:
That kind of sucks... I was hoping to see that as a release of Draftsight or something. Oh well thanks for the info Troy!
Its been a few years now since we all first saw Live Buildings. I cannot imagine its going to be perfect when you release it... because Solidworks never is on its release of SP0 or any SP after that (not meant in bad way)... because its always changing. Of course if this application is causing some major problems or crashing, I can understand why its still behind closed doors.
I hope everyone gets a peak at this soon, I am sure there are some businesses that could utilize this. I thought it would great for our Plant Engineers to create our building and the Lines within in 3D instead continually using AutoCrap 2D drawings. Please keep me informed when this product makes it out the door, as I would be interested to see it and push our Plant Engineers, get away from AutoCrap products.
Thanks for the update Matthew!
Thanks Matt! That is very interesting. That is exactly why I stated "...people think..." it was turned into Lean Construction, because in truth I hadn't heard any confirmed, clear, and direct information from anyone at SolidWorks/Dassault that what was shown at SolidWorks World had indeed become the new Lean Construction. I think the reason people may have made this conjecture when Lean Construction was announced was because some of the screenshots looked nearly identical to what had been shown at SolidWorks World.
So thanks for stating officially that the product is still alive, somewhere, as a SolidWorks product, yet to be released! It's also interesting to note that you speak of product(s), plural. Got any better time estimate about when something like that might see the light of day? Are we talking 1-2 years, or many?
Scott and Troy,
Remember those old Paul Masson commercials where Orson Wells would say "we will sell no wine before its' time?" It's kinda like that. We're not giving out any kind of time frame because we don't want to disappoint anyone if it takes longer than anticipated to ensure the best experience. The best answer I can give is "when it's ready." Stay tuned, and thanks for expressing your interest.
I was wondering if there is any progress made in this issue on Live Buildings the last year after this post?
It was released earlier this year as CATIA Buildings Space Planning http://www.3ds.com/fileadmin/Industries/Architecture-Engineering-Construction/Pdf/brochures/catia-buildings-space-planning-flyer.pdf
does this new applicaiton can open directly solidworks files ?not lose any information including the feature tree.I heard that this new product is developed on the kernel of CATIA V6.
Check out PlantWorks from Javelin Technologies... we reviewed them and they have done a great job on creating a product simiilar to Live buildings, that works inside of Solidworks. Problem for us is convincing our Plant Engineers since they are AutoCAD faithful.... sigh!
