I am trying to get the "Description" line of my items in the Bill of Materials to Populate. I added a description under "Component Properties" Window but that doesn't seem to do it. Anyone know if this is possible?
Welcome to the forum. With a part open, go to File > Properties to bring up the Properties dialog box. Click the drop-down arrow in the first open box in the Property Name column and click on Description. Text should automatically appear in the Type column. Type in your information in the Value / Text Expression and hit Enter. The information will appear in the Evaluated Value column as it will be in your BOM. Click on OK, Save the part, and go back to your assembly or drawing. The new information should show in the BOM. If it doesn't, do a Ctrl+Q rebuild.

Thanks a bunch Glenn, that work perfectly
What if nothing drops down in the Property Name column? I have used this for years as a way of entering information into my title blocks and BOMs. I noticed it did not work for me with 2013, but I just worked around it. It still does not work with 2014 and I no longer want to work around it. How do I get all of the information that used to be in the Property Name drop down menu to come back?
Click on the "Edit List" button (near the top right of the screenshot above"). That will bring up the box shown below. Enter your property name and click the "Add" button to add to the list.
Assuming that you have a "Description" custom property in your part files, you should be able to double-click the top of the column you want to show "Description", select the icon for "custom properties" and you should see a dialog box like shown in the attachment.
