I might be floating an enhancement request here, but does anyone know of a way to "isolate"** a component along with all components that are directly mated to it, for example (and in very simple terms) a bracket with all fasteners that hold it to another item, without showing the other item and without having to individually select each item for isolation.
**I use the term isolate in inverted commas as there may be a way to achieve this without using the actual isolate command.

I'm pretty sure there isn't a command that will do that. You can expand the Mates folder below each part name in the tree to see which mates involve the component, and when you hover your cursor on each mate the entities involved will be highlighted in the graphics area. Will that help?
Select the component
goto the Select flyout menu, expand it and click on 'Select Mated to'
Hold down CTRL and select the initial component again ('select mated to' will deselect it)
RMB and select 'Isolate'
I have 'Select mated To...' hotkeyed.
I love it when I'm wrong about something like this. That's the coolest thing I've learned in a while.

Yes, these selection tools seem to be rarely used and it's unfortunate because they are very handy in so many scenarios. Another function that goes lost in the RMB to 'Invert Selection' after a selection like these. When these are mastered and/or remembered in combination they are very handy tools that really speedup workflows.
Which leads me to ask if there's anything else that you think may be very helpful in speeding up common selection workflows?
