How can set up a Volume Source (Watts) to toggle on-off forever? Like this:
...but ad infinitum. Many thanks in advance.
you can approximate a square wave into perpetuity (there's the $25,000 word of the day) with a series of sine functions. Just use a function like this multiplied by your volume source value and it will be pretty close. The more terms you add the squarer it becomes.
I can no doubt approximate a toggle-forever by driving the Volume Source with an approximation to a aquare wave consisting of the first 4 - 5 terms of its fourier transform. But surely Flow Sim can toggle-forever in a native way.......
use the goal dependency. You can have the on/off slaved to a goal value - upper thereshold it turns off, lower thereshold it turns on - time proportioning
I don't think that's possible. Time t cannot be a goal, unless I'm missing something, and t is all I have to work with. Can't toggle on temperature, for instance.
What are you trying to model? How long will you be running the simulation? Are you just trying to get around creating and entering the curve?
It sounds like you're looking for some built in functions to control the power source similar to what you have in dynamic simulation with built in sine. Flow is wysiwyg, dependency based on parameter or user defined curve.
If you haven't done so already, you should be able to create the curve easily in excel and copy paste into flow.
Chris Michalski is correct. There is no native toggle-forever BUT I can accomplish the same by applying an equation-dependency of the first few Fourier terms of a squarewave. This I have done with enormous success. Many thanks.
