Good day to all,
Can anyone draw this kind of sheet metal in solidworks "a cap of lighter''.
We are having trouble of sweep flange to the curve of a hem.
Thanks for all that will help.
Just model it with core SolidWorks features. I would not use SolidWorks Sheet Metal features since this will not be able to be flattened in SolidWorks without a 3rd party add-in.
Post what you have tried already and we will critique what you have tried so far.
I would model the main shape from the top view, fillet the top back edge, then shell, then add an extrude cut from the top thru all and another extrude cut for the cut on the lower edge.
I can see five features, maybe six if I model the emboss in the side of the lighter cap. Seven features if the side emboss needs mirrored to the other side.
You can model it, but you won't be able to unfold the part since the forming is not pure bending (the hem around the radius is curved in more than one direction)
When you modeled parts with same gauge sheet metal, Flattening software will give you the blank layouts.
If you post a sample part or detailed drawing, then I could provide you the results.
Hi Sir Michael,
I don't have a detailed drawing of this model. Our major concerned of this model is the sweep flange to the curve of a hem which we can't do.
Can you please provide a sample part that this is possible?
Thnx for the help!.....
