I have an assembly I am trying to work on.
I want to edit a part by creating a sketch of the face of a second part.
Thats when this text box shows up.
Does anyone know how i can change this?
SolidWorks, by default, only allows a part to be defined in the context of one assembly. Your part already has some features defined in the context of another assembly. You have a couple of options. You can go to Tools/Options/System Options/External References and check the box that says "Allow multiple contexts for parts when editing in assembly". Another option would be to eliminate the external references to the other assembly.
SolidWorks defaults that option to off because it is considered a bit dangerous. I am not sure why.
