If I have a drawing using an assembly in views, how would I bring the assembly's Global Varibles and Features into the drawing text?
I was able to do so by pulling assembly's Global Varibles and Features into the assembly's property name. Then linking that property into the text on the drawing. Now my only question is pulling the configuration name from a different assembly into the same text. Or into any text.
Ben, in your assembly or part file you need to link your global variables to custom properties.
In the custom properties dialog box, create a new proeprty of type text (can't have the same name as the global variable but it can be close) and then in the value field, hit the drop-down arrow and select your global variable from the list.
Then in the drawings when you create notes, insert a reference to this property and it will display and update.
for more information see help topics on custom properties or Summary Information.
Thank you, that helps out. The only thing I cannot find is how to do the same thing with the configuration of an assembly to a drawing.
Is the value of the global variable different in each configuration?
There are no global varibles on the base assembly, just in the master assembly. It would be very difficult to have global varibles in the base assembly. Our customer has many different base rack styles, and a lot of them have the same length and width.
