SW 2013 Copy and paste assembly components not working as expected

In previous version of Solidworks if I copy and paste Ctrl C then Ctrl V or Ctrl and drag a component in the assembly tree it would create a copy of the component diretcly on top of the old one in the xyz coordianates of the model.  Now with 2013 the copied part seems to be placed randomly in position within the assembly, and I have to reposition to start from where the old one was.  This makes experiementing with different component layout options very painful. With copy and paste in place on pre 2013 I could copy and paste right on top of my existing part and explore what moving the component up down or side to side would benefit the layout of parts.

Does anyone know how to get the old behavior back in respect to this function?

Thanks,
