See attached images. I can pick the fixed face, but when I pick the adjacent curved face, I get the the attached error message. So what am I doing wrong?
Because that long leg is curved, it will not work.
Good afternoon Mike,
Could you upload the part... You should be able to select the end edge, if you still have an error, than check to make sure the thickness is the same across the part, you can also try to add a radius where the part goes from flat to curved..
I'll try to upload the part.
Will this work? What I did was I used your sketch and change the lines to construction lines except for the outside edge. Than used the base flange command.
I added a small radius at the transition and was then able to pick all the bends. Thanks for the advice. I'm trying to use sheetmetal a little more for the bent plate we do.
Mike, 'Convert to Sheet Metal' is for taking an enclosed volume and making a sheet metal body that's folded around it-like gift wrapping. I think what you want to use is 'Insert Bends'
Having said that, in order for insert bends to work your geometry needs to be a uniform thickness and your curved face needs to be tangent to it's adjoining flat face.
I changed a couple of relations in your sketch to get the bends to work and uploaded the file. However, for something this simple, it's probably easier to delete the extrude feature, make the sketch and open profile and use the base-flange feature to create the sheet metal body.
