i did configuration publisher for a part by using a design table. I placed this part into assembly . Could I configure this part in the assembly , by giving dimensions i never created in the part before . As new part to be added to the part configuration.
if i could , then could i update the part with the new configuration in the assembly

Defining the different configurations of a part is handled in the part. The assembly configurations then handle which parts, or which particular configuration of a part, is included in the assembly. The assembly configuration doesn't directly control the configuration of the part itself, just which configuration of the part is to be used in the assembly.

You might want to ask this question in the Configurations/Design Tables forum. I don't think that SW will do what you want. I think you have to add the configurations in your assembly, and then configure your assembly to use the configurations of the parts. But some of the folks who do this kind of work more often may be able to help you.
