Is it not possible to pattern an assmebly mirror and have the mirror's seed in the new pattern? I just tried this and only the mirrored components get patterned. Am I missing an option.
SW 2013 SP0.
I would not expect it to include the seed component automatically - nor would I want it to.
just add the other component to the list of components to pattern.
Yes, sometimes I wouldn't want it added but for us most times I would. I hoped there was a check box to include the mirror seed in the pattern. This is a negative for us we work with mirrored molded parts all the time so we were very excited for the new assembly mirror feature; the mirror feature never worked well in 09.
The seed component is not shown "under" the mirror (when you click the plus sign next to it). Only the newly created components. In order to pattern the seed, you have to select the original seed component as well as the mirror feature when you create your pattern.
Yes, the seed is not under the mirror assembly feature but it isn't in a linear or circular pattern either. If you click a pattern feature when patterning a pattern it takes the seed also. The way I look at it is what are you clicking to pattern; the base seed component(s) or the pattered/mirrored feature. If a assembly pattern/mirror is clicked it should include the seed. If i don't want the seed included I select the mirrored components indivually.
Well I'll be damned, you're right! I've never noticed that patterning an existing pattern automatically grabs the seed as well. I've always manually selected it.
I see you're point now, it doesn't make sense for patterns to work that way, and not mirrors. Sounds like a good idea for an enhancement request.
With multi cavity molded part symetry we pattern paterns a lot.
Thats exactly where we are coming from, why do patterns work that way but not mirrors. A simple work around is as you said just click them again but I shouldn't have to since patterns work that way. Doing an enhancement request now.
