Solidworks 2013 won't display some features... Help!

Brand new to the Solidworks Community and just installed my new SW2013 on a brand new MacbookPro running Windows 7 on Parallels. Love everything about it except some critical details that are really slowing me down. Several of the "mini-windows" that appear when I perform a command (ex. Smart Dimension brings up a small box where you can enter information) will not display. I can see the shape of the mini window but there is nothing there-in. I cannot make any changes and the only way to close it is with the return key. I really miss my smart dimension, appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks for your time
