When we open assemblies we get these warning of parts already open over and over. How do we stop this?
You'll get that message if you try to open a document that has the same name as an-already loaded document but is in a different location. That you're getting this message frequently could mean you're not working from the file location that you think you are.
In your assembly model, goto File==>Find References and look at the paths of the files to see if there are any locations that are not what you expected.
If you check the 'Search file locations for external references' checkbox in System Options: External References and have locations set up in the 'referenced documents' search path (System Options: File Locations panel) then you might be inadvertantly loading parts from another directory besides your assembly working directory.
In any case, unexpectedly getting this message usually indicates that you've got duplicate files. You'll want to consolidate those files down to one location. If it's part of a document management scheme (like your archival files are stored on a network and your working files are stored locally) then try turning off 'search file locations for external references' before loading your assembly.
If that's not it, tell us a little more about your set up.
Thanks changed my settings in system options and so far that has fixed it.
