Just upgraded to 2013 from 2009 I see SW added a costing module. We are really interested in using this to spead up our quoting process and to make our quotes more accurate and consistent. Is there a costing tutorial somewhere?
Definitely understandable, the aim with Costing is to do just that: streamline the costing process to take the workload off of people like your CNC programmer or manufacturing department. I will work on trying to get my presentation out, and if I have issues I will try to at least create something to share with everyone as this appears to be a real need.
Since there is now a forum dedicated to Costing, you might want to ask it there.
Thanks I missed that.
Currently there is a tutorial on both sheet metal and machining costing in the SW Help. Other than that we do not currently have much else for tutorials, but I have heard this request a lot recently. I gave a rather in-depth presentation at SWW this year, I may be able to make it (or an abbreviated part of it) available soon if it will help.
Are you struggling with any specific parts of costing? or are you mostly just interested in more of a general overview?
I found the tutorials and went through them; they didn't help much they were pretty general.
I'm struggling with how to set it up. While I understand machining operations I don't know how to incorporate that into a costing template. While I understand you can't go into the theory of costing hopefully a more in depth tutorial on how to set it up can be done. I would like to see the presentation you did at SWW, if you could make that availible it might be helpful.
Currently our CNC programmer does our costing. The goal is to eliminate the burden on him and get a uniform cost structure.
Thanks Blake we appreciate the support. Our plan is to have our programmer who is familiar with costing software look at it (when he has time) and try and understand how we can implement it but any aditional information will help.
Good afternoon Grant,
I'm looking forward to your tutorial and/or presentation on Costing. When do you expect this will become available?
Blake is the one who made the presentation on costing.
It can be found here.
