How can I export a SW model/assembly to AutoCAD to view in 3D. I cannot find dwg/dxf when I try to save as. Any input?
Good morning Zach,
You need to insert your model in a drawing and save it as a 2d file before you can save it as a DXF/DWG file, DXF & DWG is 2D. You can open a SolidWorks model in inventor as a 3D model, or you can save it as a step or iges file then open it with inventor....
depending on your acad version you can simply import a sw model. this works in 2012 acad.
in the command line type import change to sw and open it. i have found it to work best as saving the sw file as a parasolid.
I just found something on an Autodesk forum that worked; it was saving as ACIS (*.sat) file.
