I'm in need of some assistance with installing Solidworks on my Windows 8 computer.

I obtained this copy from University in the form of files which were copied from the server, so this isn't being installed from a disc.

After having no success with installing this copy on my Windows 8 machine, I've had to resort to installing it on my Windows 7 laptop, which installed flawlessly.

However, I'm fed up of working with a small screen and underpowered hardware on my laptop, so I had another go at installing on my Windows 8 pc, to no avail.

I am greeted with an error message at the very beginning of the install "Unable to open source file C:\Users\User\Desktop\Solidworks SDK 2012 64Bit\SETUP\64bit\VSRemoteDebugger\install.exe for product Visual Studio Remote Debugger". I presumed this could be something to do with file permissions, but all the file permissions seem to be ok.

Some assistance with this would be greatly appreciated, as my laptop is driving me crazy!

System specs if that makes any difference:

OS: Windows 8 Pro

Processor: Intel Core i7-2600K @3.70 Ghz

Installed memory: 16.0GB

Graphics card: EVGA GTX460 FTW - driver version 310.70

Thanks in advance
