I just started work at a new job and am trying to get everything set up the way I am used to. I've got pretty much everything (templates, formats, BOMs, custom materials, blah blah blah), but the one thing that has me stumped and doesn't seem to be working the way it ought to is changing the colors for Drawing Dimensions and Layers.

When i go to tools>options>system options>colors, there doesn't seem to be a specific option for Drawing Dimensions and when I change the color for Driven Dimensions, it changes the color for both Drawing Dimensions and Driven Sketch Dimensions (as if they were one-and-the-same??). What's going on? I've never had a problem setting different colors for Driven Sketch Dimensions and Drawing Dimensions before.

Also my Layer Color setting doesn't seem to have any effect. I have a template/format which I've copied, edited and taken down to bare-bone with only layer "0" and everything set on that layer. If i change the layer color, nothing happens. I've even tried creating a new layer with a different color, switching existing annotations/dims/sketch entities to that layer and still nothing happens. And I've even tried creating a new layer with a different color and creating new annotations/dims/sketch entities within that layer and still nothing happens. And there doesn't seem to be an option to change the color of Balloons either - only annotations as a whole. This is the only reason I even started messing around with the layers settings (I normally just stick with layer "0" ) and prompted this whole ordeal in the first place.

Anyway, something seems amiss. I remember all this being pretty straight forward in SolidWorks.... 2010? Any help would be much appreciated.

By the way, I am using Solidworks 2012, SP5.0

Thanks.
