Please see attached part file. I'm really just trying to find an easy way to get the flat pattern dimension into my BOM. Cut-List properties seems to be the ticket, but I can't figure out why the discrepancy between the properties value and the actual model. Any ideas?
Here's a screen shot that I think will get us to a solution.
You can see the "Flat Dimension" is 28.6761", but the equation that supports that is the sum of three dimensions. RD1, RD2 and RD4. One or more of these dimensions may have resulted from my earlier attempts to get the flat dimension into my BOM. In the background you can see RD1 and RD4 on the model. Where RD2 is, I have no idea.
Do this information open any new paths?
I am a bit confused as to why you are using equations to show your flat pattern dimension. Solidworks automatically creates two properties in "cut list properties" called "bounding box length" and "bounding box width". These properties will give you your overall length and width of the flat pattern. See attached screen shot.
Maybe I could make that work. How does one access the "cut list properties"? I don't find that in my design tree. ...Oh wait a second. I just right clicked on something and then clicked update and now i do see the "Cut-List-Item1" is available. Perhaps this is the most efficient solution.

No. This is not the solution I was seeking.
It seems Cut-List-Properties cannot be linked to Custom Properties. It is Custom Properties that drive my BOM and Cut-List BOM.
I see more than one open SPR that appear to involve this short-coming.
Hope they fix it soon.
I believe I saw something about this capability being available in SW 2013. I am not using 2013 yet so I can't verify this.
Updating the Cut list properties is suppose to correct this but if you are using multiple configurations all bets are completely off.
I have shown SW that the bounding box does not update between configurations and that the bend allowance can be different in the cut list properties rather than the value listed in the gauge table of even a manually entered k-factor. Rebuild a drawing after switch configurations and watch it if you have the bounding box displayed. Save the drawing, Open the drawing change the configuration and save and you will notch the the LAST USED properties are used on the drawing....
I downloaded your part and it looks fine to me. The cut list property values for "Bounding box lenght" and "Bounding box width" are 12" and 9 9/16" respectively. What values are showing in your cut list properties?
