Hello everyone I am new to the forums and have a question to ask.

I am having issues when I attempt to create a new part in an assembly as dictated here: http://help.solidworks.com/2012/English/SolidWorks/Sldworks/Creating_a_Part_in_an_Assembly.http

Immediately after clicking insert->component -> new part I am faced with the error message "The default templates are not valid. The problems can be resolved by correcting the default templates under the options dialog." and then I proceed to click okay. Immediately after this I am faced with "An error was encountered while trying to open your file. Contact Technical Support for a possible solution." 

At this point I my part is created in the assembly but it is an internal part only with the [Part n ^ assembly_name ] form. I'd like to avoid this if possible and simply have the part recognized by the Part n form.

If it helps at all when I make new parts normally I am not faced with a default templates error, or any error for that matter.

Any suggestions?
