I'm trying to make a commercial parts list from a BOM in the top level drawing. The assembly I'm working on contatains 4 subassemblies, two of which are duplicates. In order to only have commercial parts, I've made an indented BOM, deleted unnecessary rows, and then exported it to excel. The problem I'm having is that the BOM only seems to be counting the parts in the two duplicate assemblies (inserted twice, not patterened) once. Anyone else run across something like this?

Yes, that's correct. The reason I need to use an indented BOM and not just a parts only BOM is because some items, such as motors, are an assembly whose part files show various parts that OEM's use to configure a product.
OK, so yes, Solidworks is going to list two subassemblies and then indented, the recipe for making one of them. From your response, I conjecture that you are using an indented BOM because you want to display some subassemblies as components and others you want to display as just parts.
What you can do to achieve this is in the assemblies you want to display as just parts, go into the configuration manager and set this control in the configuration of the top-level assembly referenced by the BOM. That will effectively dissolve the subassembly level and it's components will display aggregate totals
For componnets that you want to only show the subassembly, you can select the 'hide' option. Try it out and see if that gets you closer to what you're trying to do.
if you dont want those 2 subassemblies in the BOM, you can remove them from the BOM in the main assembly. probably easier than deleting rows.
I still need the subassemblies. I just need a different means of calculating commercial components within them.
So you have an indented BOM and it's listing your subassembly as an item. For that item, there is a quantity of 2 called out. Then indented under the subassembly it's only listing half the total number of items. Is that correct?
