Morning All, I'm new to solid works and I'm wondering if there is a way change the default settings for the distance and and angle defaults. They are currently at 1.00 and 30 deg.

Can you please elaborate? My distance mates also default to 1", but I just checked my Spin Box Increments and it's set to 0.1000in. I thought the Spin Box Increment was for the amount of change if you click on the little up or down arrow in distance/angle dialog boxes. Maybe I misunderstood the OP?
my distance and angle mates default to the parts' initial separation before the mate was started.
How can I make mine do that?
it is a order of operation thing, select the faces first then pick mate and distance/angle and it will default to "current" values
slight additional workflow: if you start the mate command, and select that you are going to do a distance mate you get the default value, however if you let SW determine coincident for you and then change it back to distance/angle, it will then give you "current" values
not sure - it is how it has always been.
my usual work flow:
select a face - select mate from the context menu.
select mating face, sw defaults to coincident, then I select distance, and it pops back to its initial distance, then I enter the distance I want.
In Mate. pick the faces and let Swks assume you want the coincident mate first, then click on distance. this moves the components back to where they were.
I understand this problem completely! I use a specific distance to mate most of my parts at. The default 1.00" is not cutting it. Is there a way to change this to a custom value? I am tired of changing the value for every mate.
Strange as it may seem that value is assigned via the Tools > Options > System options > Spin Box Increments settings.
