1. how could I wrap the cable around the Pipe? i'm still new for SW!
2. could we do it in motion?
What are you trying to find out?
i just want to learn how to do it, and record it step by step using motion.
As you said already that you'll make two parts and assemble them. You can also create the helix and then sweep around the wire profile in the part also. Do you need any examples (SW2012/13 only) for it
And I'm sure animation can also be done but that will be slightly tricky.
I would like to know also since we do Heat Tracing around pipes and it would be better if I can do it without creating a helical path around an axis.
Well defining exactly what you want to get out of it will tell you the possible ways to pull it off or get some sort of approximation. If you just want a pretty picture or series of them you can probably do it in motion. You want engineering data it qwould depend on what values you want. You maybe could do it in the fea program but it would be tricky and ugly.
no engineering data or any requirement are needed; just a pretty picture.
the cable is high temp. the heat from the pipes is no effect. I will create 2 parts and assembly them together.
