SolidWorks 2008 Virtual Machine License Manager Issues

A little background first. We had a SolidWorks 2008 license manager install on an old server, which had recently started failing. In a bid to catch up with the rest of our servers and in order to avoid the whole thing dying on us we did a physical to virtual migration of the old appserver which contained the SolidWorks 2008 LM install.

The situation now is that we have the LM installed on a virtual server, so it cannot detect the plugged in USB dongle. I am also unable to do a conventional transfer of the license from the virtual LM to a physical one becuase every time I try it says it cannot find the dongle. One option is to buy a dongleserver which connects to the VM via ethernet, but I don't really want to fork out on that especially as we only have a few computers left running 2008 (ones that can't take 2011).

Getting it from the old physical server is not an option, as I'm not sure it'll even boot up any more. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Many thanks
