I have an assembly drawing with over 100 item numbers. I have a bracket with two configurations. Is there a way to only show the two configurations for that specific part number only?
If you have an assembly that can use either part configuration A or part configuratio B, then you have two assemblies. Your two assemblies and your two parts can each be managed by model configurations and tabulated drawings. The new SolidWorks parts lists allow you to itemize each assembly configuration.
Make a configuration of the assembly specifically to drive the BOM. Add the bracket a second time and change it's config. You can make it hidden so that is shows in the BOM but not in the drawing view if you want.
Just to clarify... I have an assembly that I have added 4 'L Brackets'. The L Bracket has two configurations. My assembly also has two configurations. The L Bracket will be used the same amount in both assembly configurations, with two of each bracket config going in both assemby configurations. I want to be able to list both the -01 bracket config and the -02 bracket config in the BOM so I can link it to the baloons with an item number configuration, and not have to worry about manually changing baloons with text specific entries. I know there is a way to change the BOM to show all configs of every item number, but I just want to list that specific part number twice without manually inserting a row. When I made the part, I listed the two configs on the detail drawing and now I want to call out which one to use and where on the assy drawing and making sure its linked so we dont have to worry about double checking the balloons every time someone inserts a new part and changes the ordering of the BOM. So if I understand you correctly, the way to do it is in the part configurations tab? Sorry to be redundant, but I'm one of those people that need stuff "spelled" out for me slowly:) thanks in advance!
SolidWorks just does that.
Make sure your two L brackets each have their own BOM entries in their configuration specific profile cards. Your assembly will create a separate item for each bracket.
Solidworks 2012 has an option now when you select the bom to display a part that has multiple configerations as one part .
the Tab is called Part Configruration Grouping select the option you want and you should be all set . see picture below.
