I am trying to render and assmbly model with some decals. I have tried everthing I can think of to keep them from looking washed out. The decals are PNG files. Any help and or suggestions would be appreciated.
Try adjusting the gamma of your decal images in PhotoShop (or equivalent). I'd try using .456. Then use the adjusted camma images for the decal.
I would try reducing different lighting types or moving the light source.
I did as you suggested and adjusted the Gamma of the images down in Paintshop Pro. That did help a lot, but then I found where I had upped the Gamma in the Photoview 360 options and after dropping it back down to 1, it helped a whole lot! Made all the difference in the world. Thanks for the help!
What kind of material have you assigned to the decal? If it is the default underlying material is is not a suprise that you would get this effect. you can usually change the underlying material of the decal to mitigate this issue.
