For example can easily get the overall mass of a trailer including centre of gravity.
How can I get the mass at the tow hitch.
Simple statics: sum of moments about any axis is zero. Use the axle as the center of rotation. Weight x distance from axle to CG = reaction force x distance from axle to hitch.
Welcome to SolidWorks forums Gavin.
Create a new coordinate system at the required point. In the mass property window, change to that coordinate system to get the required result.
BTW mass of the assembly will remain same irrespective of the point but COM will change and I believe that is what you need.

Something tells me Gavin is trying to find the weight or resulting force at the tow hitch.
Yes Mark that is exactly what I'm trying to do, find the down force applied to the hitch of the towing vehicle from the hitch of the trailer.
Use Roland's equation. Force at the hitch = Weight x distance from axle to COG / distance from axle to hitch.
Thanks Roland I can work it out from this
