HI! I'm using Sworks 2012 Professional & have downloade the ASME B16.5 & all I see are Flanged Elbows, Tees etc. Where are all my Buttweld, socketweld & threaded fittings.
Any ideas anyone!

We don't have the luxury of being able to download fittings or use the fittings provided by SW because they never have the right standards or the configurations that we need.
This is however not a bad thing because of that we had to learn in detail how to create it all. Which in turn have us much more freedom as well as lean routing parts. Don't forget that lots of 3d models you can find are meant to *look* good. Routing parts (a.k.a. fittings) should be accurate dimension wise, were it counts, but the looks are less important, at least that's our opinion about it. So what if they are utilitarian looking afterall they are tools to create something not to make glossy "purdy" pictures.
The big difference between buttweld, socketweld and threaded fittings are the measurements and the location of the Cpoints when you come down to it, right? The measurements needed are easily found in tables so the most time will go into making the design tables in excel and checking the parts for any errors or problems.
Another advantage can be that because you built it yourself you can make the BOM show the data that you want it to show instead of being forced to show the data as it is incorporated into the downloaded fittings
Thanks Peter! I was finally able to access the fittings library. Because its part of the Routed Sys Suite you have to download them separately. I do agree though that it would be nice to have them configured with the proper specs that we use here. Something to htink about
