I love the new Modo appearances in SW 2013!
Yesterday I downloaded quit a few, but not all appearances work.
Does anybody know what the criteria are for a Modo appearance to work in Photoview 360?

I think SW is having issues with the setup. You are supposed to have a secure link in your customer portal page that grants you access, but I assume it will not work until SP0 (my same assumption for the Admin Dashboard).
edit: It appears the Dashboard link is working now

Thanks, but when I click the Sign In, it let's me log in and then dumps me back out to the beta page in an endless loop. I think because beta is done, it won't work... it should just be a link on the regular Customer Portal page.

There really is no criteria I don't believe. Essentially any modo material will work inside of PV360.
The pitfall comes with how well the material works with the PV360 controls you have availble for adjustment. The modo material you're using in PV360 may have 30-40 (maybe more) seperate adjustments that can be made in modo to fine tune and change the material. Some of them (the ones that use fur come to mind) are very specific adjustments for that material.
In PV360 the user has 6-10 appearance (material) adjustments available to them. These adjustments may or may not correlate to the adjustments for the modo material. It really depends on how the modo material was built.
As an example. If you watch this video http://www.axiscadsolutions.com/2012/09/photoview-360-2013-modo-materials/ I try and change the color of the carpet using the PV360 color picker. It does not change the modo material carpet color because the setting PV360 is changing for color is not the same setting the person who built the modo material used to control color in the material. Since the PV360 user doesn't have access to that setting they will never be able to control the color of this modo material. The setting to change the modo material color is there in the background, it's just hidden from the PV360 user in the UI.
The two ways to make this work better are build the modo material to take the most advantage possible of the PV360 material settings SolidWorks allows you to control in the UI or have a more advanced PV360 appearance UI that gives the user access to the settings that are currently hidden.
