can anyone help me with making this a sheet metal part so I can get a flat pattern? Thanks
Here is the Blank.
SolidWorks will not be able to create a flat blank of the part. It is a drawn part with material deformation in more the one direction.
SolidWorks sheet metal features are for bends that you can form with brake presses. Simple bends and wipes.
You will need a program such as BlankWorks, Logopress3 or 3DQuickPress to generate a flat pattern.
Tell us what addin you used to generate that flat blank? Can't tell from the video you posted.
Also what material type did you use when generating the flat blank? John did not let us know what material he was planning to use for that part.
I belive this is logopress3!
Good morning Anna,
I used Logopress3.
Assuming this part is steel, I used the default material I'd setup (SAE 2340; 550XF) for my current projects. I know for such a part's blank profile, the material doesn't make that much of an impact. More than material itself, the forming conditions play a bigger role. Drawn or Formed, pressure pads, draw, beads etc.
Even with 3.5mm thick material, the blank profile falls within ±0.3mm of the final developed profile.
Thanks Micheal for the info.....
Thank you very much Michael. I tried to download all 3 of the programs Anna suggested but none were free. Thanks to everyone who helped/tried to help. I greatly appreciate it.
this was a good discussion...but how to download the addin?
and is it free for authorised VARs of Solidworks?
This is not free software,VAR's have to do discussion with Logopress3 team to get demo license/delaership...!
I believe that you can try it for free for a limited time. Go to their website:
