I have been using SW Explorer 2007 to change the file names,
etc of my 2006 files. The key thing I do is to make sure I have
SolidWorks closed before I go and open SolidWorks Explorer 2007. At
the moment I run in SolidWorks 2006 for 99% of my work.
If you launch SolidWorks Explorer 2007 from SolidWorks 2007
and touch the 2006 files and rename you will no longer be able to
use the files in 2006.
Easy enough to test for yourself with some locally saved
copies of the files.

I think a lot of people (including myself) would like to see
a comparisson of workflows between 2006 and 2007 and clarification
on whether SW-Explorer 2007 will update the file format if used on
a SW2006-generated file.
I am preparing a Hands On Presentation of SW Explorer 2007.
Does anyone have any feedback or suggestions? Are there any
specific functions that you would like to see?
I'm also preparing 2 more presentations; Weldments and Smart
Components. These 2 presentations will be available to all around
October 31, 2006. The SW Explorer Presentation will be available
after SWW 2007. If you would like these presentations later, please
send me an e-mail.
