Hi,

first time poster here.

Firstly I'd like to apologise in advance.

I'm not particularly well versed when it come to Solidworks, so please forgive my ignorance.

I have a client with 2 computers currently running Solidworks 2012.

They would like to boost the performance of Solidworks.

The files they are working on are relatively small (50 parts at a maximum).

I will list the basic specifications of each computer.

User 1:

HP Compaq 8100 Elite CMT

Windows 7 Pro 32 bit

3.20 GHz Intel Core i5 650

4GB RAM

NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290

User2:

HP Compaq 8100 Elite SFF

Windows 7 Pro 32 bit

2.93 GHz Intel Core i7 870

4GB RAM

AMD Radeon HD 6350

I’m after some advice.

I understand that these computers are not true CAD workstations.

For the work they are currently performing, I believe they are sufficient.

What I propose is upgrading the OS to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

Bringing the RAM up to a minimum of 8GB.

Replacing the graphics cards.

Is this an appropriate solution?

If so, what graphics card would you recommend?

Thank you for your time, I apologise if this seems quite vague.

Please let me know if there is any further information I can provide.
