In 2D programs like MSPAINT, the position of the cursor is always shown in the status bar; in Solidworks's 3D view, could we let the software show the cursor's projection on top, right and front plane? Or if this is not provided, could it show cursor's projeced position when the view is at one of the orthogonal planes (top, bottom, right, left, front, back)?
Another question is with "measure tool". It seems that it cannot be used to click on an arbitrary space point even when in one of the orthogonal plane view, and its selection must be some established items?

In SolidWorks 2013 you can measure between 2 arbitrary points on a model (not the empty space).

Callouts appear in the graphics area and new measurements appear in the Measure dialog box.
