I just got a new computer at work:
Dell Precision WorkStation T7500
Windows 7 Pro (64-bit)
Now when I click insert > table > design table, I get the dialog, but when I click the green check nothing happens.
I really need help on this!
I just found this article in the forums that might be useful for you to figure out what is happening.
Maybe a dumb question, but do you have Excel installed?
Yes, I have excel 2003. No, not a dumb question.
I will try to do a repair on both programs...
Which version of SW?
If you have SW2011 or higher, you will need Excel 2007 or 2010.
I have 2012, but i don't see how thats my problem. Our other two seats in our office are using excel 2003 and SW 2012 with no issues. Also, on my old computer running XP, excel 2003 and SW 2012 had no issues either.
OK, that's good to know. I was just going by the requirements specified at the page I linked.
I read those requirements, but like I said it seems to still work (at least on 3 out of 4 computers).
Look up S-049851 in the KB.
You may have to apply a MS hotfix.
I don't think we have access to the KB. I have gotten in contact with our VAR, hopefully they can figure something out.
Repairing excel did not fix the problem.
Thanks for the ideas.
If you have access to your VAR and current subscription support with them, you should have access to the KB.
I had issues with SW2011/Excel2003 as well. I posted my work around here:
I had problems with this when I got a new computer as well. It turned out to be a setting in Excel when I was installing it. I cannot remember the exact name of the setting and from what I remember if you are installing Office from the web there is a setting to get you up and running quickly by some how partially installing office and allowing you to open and run the program while it is still downloading or installing, (hope I remembered that correctly), unfortunately if you use this SolidWorks will not work with excel. I had to uninstall Office, I then downloaded the full version and then installed this and everything worked ok. It was my VAR that discovered this, so if a full reinstall does not work I would consult them about it.
