How can I show (activate) an exploded configuration of a sub-assembly within a main assembly (which, in turn, will have it's own exploded configuration)?
Add an exploded view to the assembly, select the sub-assembly and click the 'Reuse sub-assembly explode' button at the bottom of the dialog. You may wish/need to add a new config first.
is there any way to use the Explode line sketch also?
Tom, this allows you to add sketch lines in an assembly so that someone can see how the parts are put back together.
sorry, seems like my question wasn't clear, i wanted to use the exploded sub assembly in the master assembly, and i also want to bring the explode line sketch in from the sub assembly
I don't think you can re-use the explode (in my SW2015 anyway). That is a good idea, though...
Hmm, good question. The sketch is hidden within the explosion, on the config manager of the sub-assembly. I can't find a way of seeing that up in the upper level.
Dirty old work around would be to explode in the sub-assem, start a 3d sketch, select the sketch in the explosed view on the config manager and convert entities. You can then convert that sketch in the upper level and suppress/unsuppress as required. Not tidy though.
i was thinking that was getting to deep so i just make the explode line sketch in the master assembly
Thanks though brought back this post from the dead!
