Hi All,

Please bear with me, this is more complex than the title sounds...

The company I work for has a system of calling up fixings whereby each fixing is allocated a number, which in turn is documented within our stores system. For example an M4 bolt (regardless of length) will always be called up on a drawing as balloon number 123. At the same time this is excluded from the BOM to remove any risk of double dimensioning and the part call up in the BOM is replaced with the document telling the workshop what balloon 123 is allocated to.

It is becoming ever more time consuming to always have to enter these numbers as a "text" balloon, also by doing this we are removing the "automatic update" capabilities of Solidworks, so should that number ever become 124 then we would have to manually go through and change all the relevant balloons.

Does anyone know of a way of allocating a balloon number to a component that is stored within our Design Library? - I am assuming the only way to do this would be property driven, but I can't seem to find anything.

We use Solidworks 2012.

Many thanks for your time.

Ben
