What do I have to do inside of the ADMIN tool to get our Message System to run through gmail?
I ended up finding another forum on hear which had a similar problem as me. They referenced this website http://solidworksheard.com/blog/2010/11/19/enterprise-pdm-notification-via-gmail.html .
Worked very good!!
Use Stunnel. Thank you Lou Gallo for this one:

Good news everyone. I have tried to make stunnel work to no end. I tried to setup e-mailrelay as defined by SW in the knowledge base (sorry no reference) to no avail. So I checked with gmail one more time and found the easy answer. I have ran with these settings since yesterday and everyone I send a notification to gets the message. No more beating my head against the wall......Awesome!
Thought you all might like to know.
Jeff,
That's awesome! An important note on this though:
You can connect to the Google Apps mail servers using SMTP or SSL. If you connect using SMTP, you can only send mail to Gmail or Google Apps users; if you connect using SSL, you can send mail to anyone.
Charley,
I see you have posted here as well! For some reason, I cannot get the GMAIL client to work. It had worked at one time, but it has since been disabled.
I am using the Email Relay service, based on the KB article S-061875 that was written back in 2013. I know that this service works because i have another system that uses it for sending reports in daily emails. The error I keep getting is that the server was not found. This seems pretty self explanatory, however, I have tried using everything from the machine name, NetBios name, IP address, Lookback address (127.0.0.1) to no avail. Is there a setting that needs to be updated with the new EPDM Version 15.04.1054? Again, the email relay service works fine with another application that needs to use it. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Firewall ports 25, 465, 587 are all open.
Totally baffled.
PS: I tried the Stunnel, and like mentioned above, it did not work either...since I know Email Relay worked at one time, I wanted to stick with it.)
Any help is deeply appreciated.
Jason
Jason,
We are using SendGrid as a an email forwarder which was easy to setup following their instructions. It is free up to 12000 messages a month. Once we made this change all of my problems went away until we sent more than 12000 messages. One thing to be aware of is the test email function in the EPDM admin tool will not function. Hope this helps.

Jeff,
I must be the village idiot, because SendGrid has been much more confusing to me than Email Relay. (Maybe because i have been digging through it fully.)
I see many different articles on set up, but I am not having a clear direction on setting up the service on Server 2008 R2.
Hey Jason,
Ah yes, that was my old account from back in my VAR days. That looks like an internal server you're pointing at, how is GMail involved if that server's not sending it up through STunnel?
Charley,
You are correct, it is an internal Server, the same server running both Archive Server and the relay service. "EmailRelay" is a service that sits on the same server, and when you point the login info to the service, it forwards it onto the SMTP using gmail SSL. Again, this worked in the past.
I tried the stunnel service, but that article above was written in 2010. Lots has changed since then, so I cannot seem to get it to work. I tried to set up the config file as best as I could based on the info on that site, but it gets the same error, of cannot find the server.
Hello Tyler,
Enter SMTP Details in the Messages tab in the Admin tool.

Raghav.
