Am using solid works 2011, in part property, mass is showned as -1,#J insted of its original mass. Do any one knows the actual problem. Its happing only for few assemblies not for all
When you run mass properties does the same thing happen? Do you have more than one assembly template? Have you looked under File=>Properties and verified that it still says |Mass ||Text ||SW-Mass@@Default@Assem3.SLDASM| ? Are you using a standard Solidworks material? Check the mass of the parts too.
Thanks for your reply, part properties shows the same. few parts in the assembly shows its mass, but remaining shows the same problem. Those parts are drawn in older version which means template is different, it may be the reason?
I would assume so. Try supressing the parts that have bad mass properties and see if it change the result. Also, go into each part to
File=>Properties and verify that it still says |Mass ||Text ||SW-Mass@@Default@PartX.SLDPRT. I assume this has either text or is missing altogether. The code SW-Mass@@Default@PartX.SLDPRT will be listed as Mass.

Sorry if this sounds silly but do these parts have solid bodies??
Can you check in the feature manager if the part has solid bodies and their mass property is not undefined.

Its not silly, one part in the assembly is created from IGES format, that is the only part which is not showing its mass. But how it is related with main assembly, i have assigned mass for that part too, still assembly dosent show the entire mass. what can i do now
Does this mean that if you suppress this part (IGES) then you can see the mass of the whole assembly??

The IGES is your problem. Re-run Imported geometry diagnostics. By the look of the properties it seems that there is a problem with the solid (volume, surface area) and not the mass. The mass is calculated off the volume.
The assembly is affected because it is trying to add the numerical value of the mass (from most of the parts) and the errenous mass of the .iges and the total will be error.
Try running feature recognition too. If it is not a complicated part you may just want to redraw.
Re-running imported geometry diagnostics dosent solve the problem. Also the prt is not drawn by me, its my customer part.Anyway i can get the mass from their drawing, Thank u all
