Unfortunately, I have a unique circumstance where I have to make parts virtual and add a material within the assembly file.
I can bring in a part virtually, and control click another copy, with no issues and the quantity will just update without an issue.
If I bring in the same exact part again, virtually, and apply the same material, a new row will populate in the BOM. All the information is exactly the same but it creates a new row. The only difference is in the tree, where we go from a prefix of "Copy" for the first set of parts brought into the assy, to "Copy (2)" for the second one brought in.
Is there something obvious I am missing?
Thanks,
Mike
the part name (file name) is different so SW sees it as a different part. and of course, you will not be able to rename it to match the others because the name is already in use. you will need to control drag to make another copy from the original in the assembly for the names to match.
