Slooowww selection of parts in the feature tree

Hi guys,

I've noticed that when I select parts in the feature tree, the process happens very slowly. I click a part, and the Windows 7 circle thing spins around and flickers between that and a regular cursor a few times and then the part is selected. If I'm shift-cliking to slect multiple parts it does this with each part. It can be as much 5 seconds or more per part, which just seems crazy to me. This is in small assemblies (<50 parts) and does it even when selecting simple parts (a lens for example which is just one revolve).

Anyone else have trouble with this or know of a way to speed things up. It would be nice to know what SW is actually DOING when I click the part. Is it a graphics thing, or a RAM thing etc...?

Any help or insight would be much appreciated!!

For reference here is my system setup:

SW 2012 SP4.0

Dell T3500 Precision Workstation

Intel Xeon E5540 @ 2.53 GHz

6.00GB RAM

Windows 7 64 Bit

Video: Nvidia Quadro FX1800
