I have several parts that I use in assemblies with the only difference being the appearance. I prefer to be able to set up the appearances in the part file and then override them in the assembly if needed.
The problem I am having is applying different appearances to the different configurations. I assume that Display States can be used but so far it is proving to be difficult. I have tried linked and unlinked display states.
The only thing I have been able to do is have one appearance applied to the part and a different one applied to the body. The body appearance will override the part appearance, then the body appearance can be removed in a different configuration (or display state - not sure).
Any help is appraciated.
