I use Mind Mapping tools for other things in my life, but I can see how this would certainly help with large SolidWorks projects. Looking at your screen shot, I think Treehouse might serve some of the purpose that you are showing there unless you have some metadata in each of the assembly nodes.
Can you explain what you would want out of your MindMapping software
Have you tried using Treehouse to layout a project, then use Assembly Visualization in the SolidWorks assembly for color coded components based on project status or workflow state values?
I know about the Treehouse and Assembly Visualization - both of these you can consider utilities for the designer. MindMapping the assembly opens up interrogation to the whole company. For instance, manufacturing prints out the mindmap in large format on the wall. A purchaser generates and filters the map for all fasteners/hardware that are ready for purchase. A manager shows the upper echelon the mindmap on a digital projector, and switches back and forth to the Gantt Chart view.
That type of thing - a MindMap is used by the whole company who needs to visualiaze what's happening.
Here's a link to a Flash MindMap on the web, it expands and collapses, and there's a picture that explains what SolidWorks information is configured in each MindManager Topic.
Actually, one can generate SolidWorks assemblies in MindMap format and put it on a website - they'll even work on an iPad.
Hi Marc,
Take a look at TreeHouse. Not sure if it can bring in Customer Properties.
