Is there a way to copy custom properties from one part to another without making a copy of the part?
You can open the virtual part files from the assembly and then use copy and paste method. Check attached video.
Open file properties you want to copy. Now drag select and hit ctrl + c. Open the other part file properties and do ctrl + v

Maybe I did not explain my intention properly. I would like to copy all the Custom Properties one shot, not one line at a time.
Also the parts I am working with are all virtual parts in separate assemblies, therefore I cannot select the file which to copy properties as the macro requested. I do not know where these virtual parts exist on my hard drive. I know where the assembly is stored but not the virtual parts.
That s great!
I s there anyway to apply Custom Propreties to multiple parts at once. I tried to use the Propreties Tab Builder, but it doesn t seem to be able to find the template i created, event hough it is in the correct location.
You can use a macro OR even Task Scheduler to add/update file properties. The only draw back might be that all files will have same properties. With some advanced macro this problem can be solved
Anybody having problems with this macro in SWx2013?
I can test it out (and rectify) if you need
Can you please test it out since its not working with 2013. I want to copy custom properties from one part file to another.
I also need this macro and have not been able to get it working. I made the modifications adding PtrSafe but opening the file via the macro seems to not be working.
Sorry for not responding. Can you check the macro here: https://forum.solidworks.com/message/290569#290569
I believe we are talking part to part, the macro in that link is part to drawing only.
