In a sketch when I create a dimension, the dimension window pops up and it defaults to the dimension name field.
Where is the switch to default it to the dimension value and/or can I have it default to turn off the dimension name altogether.
The value is shown below the dim name.
Having both fields showing & editable saves a lot of time when naming dimensions.
very unusual... but you obviously have something wrong there. Also notice that the dimension name does not include the "@sketch1" information after it... corrupt registry maybe?
edit: sorry, forgot that when you select it to change it removes that info for easy edits... still though, corrupt registry?
Why would you suspect a corrupt registry? It's working as intended ... unless I'm missing something.
Ohhh ... Are you saying that upon creating the dimension, the name is automatically highlighted for editing instead of the value?
as I understand it Bryan said that it is defaulting to fill in the simension name rather than the VALUE... so he can't just place the dim, type value and hit enter, he has to move the edit to the value from the name section.
as typing this, I wonder if there is a setting causing this... something like "name on creation".. but I thought that was for features only.
well, it is not the "Name feature on creation" option causing the issue... out of ideas for now
Paul is correct, it is defaulting to the dimension name.
I looked up old threads and found one from 07 that did show an option for turning off the dimension name but my concern would be to make it default straigh to the dimenion feild.
This is a problem on a co-works tube but I also agree with Kelvin, having both fields showing & editable does save of time.
I'll check the registration file but if anyone else has ideas, please keep them coming.
Has the problem machine been rebooted since this started happening?
Try using the Copy Settings Wizard to transfer the settings from a known good machine, to the problem machine.
